Le revenu s'observe par la descente de 5 couleurs, de la plus claire à la plus foncée, vers la pointe.

Plus la couleur est claire, plus la pointe sera dure. Le choix dépend de la dureté de la matière à travailler. Lorsque la couleur choisie atteint la pointe de l'outil, elle est stoppée dans un bac à trempe (voir ci-contre) qui contient 3 à 4 mm d'eau et dans lequel l'outil est laissé jusqu'à ce qu'il soit froid.

Quenching is seen by the descent of five colors, from the lightest to the darkest, towards the tip. More color is clearer, the tip will be hard. The choice depends on the hardness of the work material. Where the selected color reaches the tip of the tool, it is stopped in a tray that contains 3 to 4 mm and cold water in which the tool is left until it is cold.

Mehr ist die Farbe klar, mehr wird die Spitze hart sein. Die Wahl hängt von der Härte des zu arbeitenden Materials ab. Wenn die ausgewählte Farbe die Spitze des Werkzeuges erreicht, wird sie in einem Härtungsbehälter angehalten (siehe nebenstehend), der 3 bis 4 mm Wasser enthält und in dem das Werkzeug gelassen wird, bis es kalt ist.
