Marking of points on the block
The pantograph is established by a fixed part containing two axes, 1st supporting the other one its middle: a horizontal axis, the other one vertical. A 2nd part mobile and articulated in 4 places can slide along the vertical axis.
This part is ended by a kind of swivelling, sliding needle longitudinalement and laterally. This needle allows to measure exactly the distance between any point of the model and the vertical axis of the pantograph.
The sculptor marks with the pencil a point (here down at the bows), handles the joints of the pantograph and measures the distance by means of the sliding needle. A ring of stop, sliding along the needle, is blocked by a turn of a manual screw. This ring allows the sculptor to remove the needle behind, the distance being so "recorded".
